Worry Is a Choice

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 1 min read

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7

Worry is the chief symptom of the survival spirit.

Thriving means trading anxiety for prayer and thanksgiving.

The resulting peace of God is the guardrail around your mind.

The enemy is after your peace, so he gives you every opportunity to worry and be fretful. It seems so normal in our everyday society to be anxious, but as a child of God, Jesus says, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives it. So we have a choice, do we believe God who is ever true or the father of lies, who lies perpetually.

When we worry, we are showing evidence of trying to survive instead of thrive. Worry is a symptom of a surviving spirit. We must choose to trade any form of anxiety, whatever it may be, with the decision to pray and give thanks.

Ask the Holy Spirit to cultivate in you a heart of thanksgiving and gratitude even when things are going well or they are going against you. Ask the Holy Spirit to put a guardrail of peace around your mind so the war of doubt and fear and anxiety is overcome by the peace of God.

Enter into God’s rest and you will thrive!
