Honor the Anointing – Part 2

Dr RJ Sing · 1 min read

“If you only look at us, you might well miss the brightness. We carry this precious Message around in the unadorned clay pots of our ordinary lives. That's to prevent anyone from confusing God's incomparable power with us.”
(2 Corinthians 4:7 – MSG)

When David’s men enquired from him as to why he did not kill Saul when he had the chance, he answered, “He said to his men, The Lord forbid that I should do this to my master, the Lord’s anointed, to put my hand out against him, when he is the anointed of the Lord.” (1Samuel 24:6)

David wouldn’t even talk against Saul for years later after he was dead. Talk about not being a gossiper. You would think it would be okay to talk about someone after they were dead, but David knew better. He did not get caught in the trap of familiarity, and we don’t want to either.

Let us now do a Familiarity checklist: The following is a checklist to see if you may have become too familiar with your Pastor. These are the top ten warning signs that you need a ‘heart’ checkup.

1. You are noticing your leader’s faults and start to judge them in your heart. 2. You have a negative attitude when you are asked to do something beyond your job description, but you were more than willing in the beginning. 3. You are jealous or think that you deserve the same attention, gifts and money that your leader has received.
