Abiding in Jesus

Dr RJ Sing · 2 min read

“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
John 15:5

The Vine is Divine. The branches are divine human beings. God was incarnate in the flesh, in the person of Christ. We are partakers of the Divine Nature. We are actual members of the Body of Christ. Man was created in the same class of God. We are Eternal Spirits made in the Image and Likeness of our Creator. Before man sinned, he had perfect fellowship with God. When he fell, he became dependent upon his senses for his protection and life. His spirit became the slave of his senses.

When the senses gain the supremacy, the spirit man is stifled. Abraham is an example of the opposite, He believed God’s Word, in the face of the testimony of his senses. Abraham’s faith is a true type of faith of the believer today. When Jesus came, all men lived in the realm of the senses.

When you read the four Gospels, you see that they had sense knowledge faith. They believed what they could see, hear, taste, and feel. Their spirits had no place in their daily life. Until the believer recognises the two kinds of faith, he will never be able to enjoy his privileges in Christ. Thomas is an outstanding example of sense knowledge faith. Because you now abide in the Vine, your life produces much fruit. You therefore are a fruit bearing Christian. Your duty is to be in constant contact with your source. Remember without Him you can do nothing!
